Lighting Discounts and Rebates

Lighting represents 20 percent of your home’s electricity bill. We offer instant discounts when you purchase select ENERGY STAR®-certified LEDs. These high-efficiency lighting products use about 70-90% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs, and last 10 to 25 times longer.* Use the light bulb search tool to find discounts on select products at participating retailers in your neighborhood.

HVAC Rebates

The HVAC Efficiency Program provides rebates of up to $1,620 for the installation of energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment, such as central air conditioners, air-to-air heat pumps, ductless mini-split heat pumps and geothermal heat pumps. Qualifying central air conditioners are over 15% more efficient than conventional models, and may reduce your cooling costs by as much as 30 percent.*

Home Performance Audit Rebates

The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Program offers whole-house solutions designed to increase your home’s comfort and energy efficiency. Investing in energy-efficient improvements can help save you energy and money throughout the year. For a fee of $100, an auditor will conduct a thorough assessment of your home, identify sources of wasted energy and recommend energy-saving improvements. You will also receive a detailed report outlining a variety of ways you could improve the energy efficiency of your home. The program offers up to $2,500* or up to 50 percent of the cost of home improvement upgrades. Home improvements include:

  • Air sealing
  • Duct sealing
  • Insulation
  • *You may qualify for up to $2,500 if duct sealing is installed as an improvement, otherwise the maximum per home is $2,000. Home improvements must be performed by a participating contractor.

Potomac Edison also offers a Quick Home Energy Checkup Program. This program is designed to help customers make simple, energy-efficient changes to their homes at no additional cost to you. The auditor may install energy-saving products valued up to $75 during the Quick Home Energy Checkup. These products may include:

  • Up to 12 CFL light bulbs
  • LED 9W bulb
  • Kitchen and bathroom faucet aerators
  • Water-saving showerheads
  • Electric water heater pipe insulation
  • Electric tank wrap
  • Water heater must be older then 1994, located in an unconditioned space and also be electric to qualify for this measure.

Appliance and Water Heater Rebates

Save money and reduce energy when you purchase ENERGY STAR-certified home appliances. You may receive:

  • Up to $150 in rebates on refrigerators, which can reduce your annual utility costs by up to $200.*
  • Up to $100 in rebates on clothes washers, which utilize an average of 25 percent less energy and 40 percent less water than conventional models.*
  • $50 rebate on clothes dryers that use 20 percent less energy than conventional models.

You can also receive a $500 rebate on the purchase of a heat pump water heater. A heat pump water heater can save the average household almost $300 per year compared to a standard electric water heater.*
